Sandy Springs Business and Industry

An ideal demographic scenario for a new retail business might involve locating at the center of a high income residential area where 7/8th of the population lives within a 3 mile radius of the business and the customer base consists primarily of employed people who have excess discretionary income. This ideal scenario exists in Sandy Springs where the downtown business district centered around Hammond Drive and Roswell Road is also the center of a 3 mile area containing 86,698 people whose median family income was $106,069 in 2000 according to the U.S. Census. Within the commercial business district, 1,173 acres of land are devoted to office space and 715 acres are devoted to retail space. A total of 18,276,826 sq. ft. of office space has been constructed and developed in Sandy Springs so new businesses can take advantage of the infrastructure and find an already established customer base. Sandy Springs tends to attract upscale, fashionable retail stores and the commercial zone is primed for new business development.

The Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce helps new businesses

In addition to the Business & Civic Expo, local merchants can sell their products to an audience of more than 20,000 potential customers at the Artist’s Market, Heritage Crafters or the Food Court. SSPC also sponsors monthly breakfast meetings that provide opportunities for local business owners to meet each other and network together.
