Sandy Springs Education
Public schools in Sandy Springs are part of the Fulton County Public School system, which is one of the oldest and best school systems in Georgia. According to the Georgia State Department of Education, 76 out of Fulton County’s 93 schools (82%) consistently achieve the state’s educational standard for Adequate Yearly Progress while the average state AYP achievement rate for all schools is 69%.
Sandy Springs has two excellent high schools
- Riverwood High School, 5900 Heards Drive NW, (404) 847-1980: As one of Fulton County's four Magnet School sites, almost 55% of the student body is enrolled in the International Studies Program, a 4-year curriculum that focuses on global issues, cultural awareness and world economics. Riverwood High School consistently meets the state’s goals for Adequate Yearly Progress and a majority of its students score highly on the SAT Reasoning Test.
- North Springs Charter School of Arts and Sciences, 7447 Roswell Road, (770) 551-2490: Recognized by the State of Georgia as a School of Excellence, North Springs Charter School of Arts and Sciences offers the only Arts and Sciences Magnet Program in Georgia. Participating students receive either a Fine Arts Seal or a Math/Science Seal upon successful completion of all required courses.

- Sandy Springs Middle School, 8750 Colonel Drive, NE, (404) 552-4970: Recognized by the State of Georgia as a School of Excellence, Sandy Springs Middle School’s faculty and students have received many awards for outstanding performance.
- Ridgeview Middle School, 5340 Trimble Road, (404) 843-7710: This school has a student/teacher ratio of 10.6 to 1 with a total of 51 full-time teachers and a student population of about 540.

- Dunwoody Springs Charter School, 8100 Roberts Drive, (770) 673-4060: Working in partnership with Georgia State University, Dunwoody Springs Charter Elementary School became Georgia’s first Designated Professional Development Focus School and it continues to develop and implement innovative model teaching programs that are shared with other schools throughout the state.
- Spalding Drive Elementary Charter School, 130 West Spalding Drive NE, (770) 551-5880: Featuring small class sizes with an average of 15 students per class and a teacher/student ratio of 7 to 1, Spalding Drive Elementary Charter School emphasizes instruction in modern technologies. Even first graders are able to utilize the school’s wireless laptop computer laboratory. Each child receives an Individual Learning Plan and parental involvement in the learning plan is mandatory.
- Woodland Elementary Charter School, 1130 Spalding Drive, (770) 551-5890: This special school promotes community responsibility and interaction through the WIN Mentoring Program in which students are matched with adult mentors in order to develop decision-making skills and leadership ability. Student volunteer work is encouraged with organizations like the Red Cross, the American Heart Association, the Atlanta Food Bank, North Fulton Charities and Keep Sandy Springs Clean and Beautiful.
- Heards Ferry Elementary School, 1050 Heards Ferry Road, (770) 933-6190: Recognized by the State of Georgia as a School of Excellence, Heards Ferry Elementary School actively promotes a cooperative learning environment with parents through a unique home-school-community partnership.
- High Point Elementary School, 520 Greenland Road NE, (404) 843-7716: Situated on a forested 11-acre campus, High Point Elementary School emphasizes a goal-based Model for Excellence approach to teaching that allows teachers, parents and students to work together to set clearly defined goals for both individual students and groups of students.
