About Sandy Springs

The City of Sandy Springs is located on the north side of Atlanta in Fulton County. To the east is the County of DeKalb, and the Chattahoochee River flows along the north and west borders of the city. After a referendum was approved by 94% of the voters on June 21, 2005, Sandy Springs was officially incorporated as a city on December 1, 2005. Its 35 sq. mi. of land area includes the zip codes 30328, 30342 and 30350, which also overlap into other surrounding areas. Residents of Sandy Springs are served by the city’s police department and fire department, and their children attend public schools in the Fulton County School system. Some city services are provided by vendors as part of a unique partnership between the city and a private management company that operates under a contract with the city. Competition between vendors is estimated to have saved taxpayers about 20% of the city’s operating costs.
