Powers Island is a trailhead along the east side of the Chattahoochee River, just north of I-285 in Sandy Springs. This quiet 2.5 mile loop trail is across the river from the larger and much busier Cochran Shoals Trail. The trail offers lots of wildlife viewing opportunities (especially birds), and beautiful views of the Chattahoochee.
The Nantahala Outdoor Center operates an outpost from Powers Island. Here you can rent tubes, kayaks, and paddle boards, or launch your own from the watercraft launch.
